Battery-powered items like power banks, tool batteries, and e-bike packs can fail unexpectedly - and when they do, it can be dangerous.

Store them in a cool, dry place away from anything flammable, and check regularly for swelling, cracks, unusual heat, or a “chemical” smell. If you notice any of these signs, stop using it immediately. It’s also worth occasionally checking for product recalls from the manufacturer. If discarding batteries, don’t toss them in the garbage - take batteries to a proper recycling drop-off facility. Most hardware stores or municipal hazardous waste sites accept them!

Clean the lint trap regularly? Good - but that’s not where most fires start.
Pull your dryer out and inspect the vent hose for lint buildup, kinks, or crushed sections. If it’s plastic or foil, upgrade to a metal duct - it’s a simple swap that reduces fire risk.
